What is the difference between a booking name and a guest profile name?
By default, the booking name is the same as the guest name entered when the booking was added. Obee will never automatically update or change the default booking name. To change a default booking name, read How to edit a booking name.
When a guest makes a reservation at your venue for the first time (and a phone number or email address is recorded), a guest profile will be created and named after them. Obee will never automatically update or change the guest profile name. To change a guest profile name, read How to edit a guest profile name.
If that same guest makes a subsequent reservation at your venue, it's possible for them to give a different name for the booking, but use the same contact details connected to their guest profile; so it's possible for a booking name to be different to the guest profile name associated with it.
This is a common scenario for couples who share the same phone number or email address. In the example below the booking was made under "John Smith" (the booking name) and "John and Sarah Smith" was the guest profile name.

Another common time this occurs is when a concierge or booking service, like a hotel, makes a reservation for its guest on their behalf. In the example below the booking was made under "Sophie Obee" (the booking name) and "ABC Hotel Group" (the guest profile name) was the concierge service that made the reservation.
